We have finished painting the family room. Now we just need to touch up, take the tape down, and put everything back where it belongs.

For anyone that is not from the DC area, it is raining cats and dogs up here. We are getting soaked from head to toe!!

We are continuing the house renovation and beautification campaign. Last night was painting in the kitchen. We were able to get all the painting done. We still have a little work left to do in there but that will have to wait. Tonight we paint the family room.

We had a wonderful trip to OBX a week or so ago. Here is Ash and LG hanging on the beach.

While at the OBX for vacation the guys were tasked with keeping "busy" (out of the girls hair) for a day for Katie's birthday. So what did we do?? We went to HOOTERS of course.... too bad they didn't have that 1-Z in a 12 month size.

So one morning last week the Admiral Longshanks (Captain Gingersnap - the cat) was freaking out about something outside. As this is not unusual, we told him to shut up and shooed him away. Well he came right back and this time was even more neurotic about what was going on outside. We took a look and sure enough, a picture perfect fox was roaming outside. He is tough to see, but he is in front of the tree in the middle of the picture.

You know that JW was bound to get his first real live JETS jersey before too long....

And this one... well if you don't know, then you don't know. But if you know... well, then you know about the D-Train. PAE - still kicking strong.

That's it, we're all moved out of Groveland Heights Ct. It's a little sad since we've hit many milestones while living there - getting married, having Jackson, etc. But there are good times to come at Meadowsweet Drive!

We really can't say how thankful we are for our friends and family that moved us this weekend. We are so blessed! The day was a record high of 100 degrees, but with all the hands helping we were in and out in three and a half hours. Wow!

We didn't actually take any pictures during the move, so I'll just post cute ones of JW (that's why you read our blog, right??). Most are from baby Colin's baptism which was Sunday at the beautiful St. James' Episcopal Church in Leesburg. Thank you for inviting us!

Cloudy with a Chance of...Zuccini Bread?

Jackson must have gotten the McCarron genes when it comes to food. Sweet boy will eat anything I put in front of him (unlike his Daddy). Until last week, his diet was strictly Gerber baby food, fruits and veggies only, with baby cereal.

I tried my hand at blender baby food this week and it was a success. Roast chicken and rice with a little formula - blend it all up and YUM! The texture is different than Gerber food though, so it's taking some getting used to.

Other new foods this month - spiral noodles and tomato sauce; peas from the Ruby Tuesday's salad bar; refried beans (a big hit!); and a new favorite - Nana's zuccini bread! Mommy and Daddy also admit to eating almost a whole loaf of zuccini bread these past few days. So good, thanks Nana!

Sweet Summer Time!

Apparently we missed the entire month of June, so we'll wrap it up in one big post.

New House

That's right, after over a year of searching we bought a house! We found a renter for the townhouse, and all that's left to do is pack up and move out to Fairfax on July 24th. Let us know if you want to help:)

First trip downtown!

OK, technically Jackson's been downtown a number of times before, but not since he's been a "big" boy. So we took a Sunday to visit the Natural History Museum, and he loved it!

We're really into animals right now. Especially Kitty Gingersnap and now fish.

The elephant in the mammles room was HUGE! Chad and I really enjoyed revisiting the museum as we hadn't been there since elementary school.

Jackson was allowed to pick out a toy and he wanted the meercat (interesting....) See the meercat picture over him? Doesn't the stuffed animal look exactly like it?

Baptism

It was a special day on June 20th when Jackson was baptised at our church, Vienna Presbyterian, by Pastor Pete. Thank you to our friends and family who joined us to celebrate, thank you to the mom's and BT for putting on a great reception, and thank you Katie for the photos. Poor Jackson was sick (ear infections, those nasty things!) but he was a little trooper and a good sport for most of the day.

I recently had a long 48 stretch at work during which Chad was on full daddy duty all by himself. As I worked in a conference room until midnight with some very serious engineers, I received this stream of pictures, complete with commentary. I definitely chuckled out loud a few times and the men looked at me like, "oh are these proposal deficiencies funny?" Woops...

First Wedding of the Season

On Saturday (May Day!) Connor and Meghan tied the knot. We hopped a flight Saturday morning for a short overnight trip, sans baby. Not only was it a beautiful wedding, but we got to enjoy time together and see some old friends as well as Dave and Em. We had a fabulous time. A huge thank you to Nana, Papa and Gram for the babysitting - it's so nice to be able to leave Jackson and not worry.

Despite a case of the flu (the stomach variety to be more specific), Jackson had a terrific Easter. We took the whole family to church at VPC and then Mary hosted a lovely lunch at the Campbell Ranchero.

What a night. The JETS closed a stadium right. Last night was the last night At Giants stadium in the Meadowlands. The Jets shut out the Bengals in a frosty 37 - 0 fashion. You have to know that Jackson and I were there with open eyes watching closely.

Granny Laughlin passed away on December 27th. We will miss her dearly, but are so glad she was able to meet her first great grandson and spend a wonderful holiday season with her whole family. This past year was full of great memories including another Lake Anna trip, her 80th birthday party, Jackson's birth and Christmas day. The memorial service was a three day long celebration of her life and included hundreds of family members and friends. Granny was loved by everyone who knew her!

Today was a tough day to get up and get going. I was lucky enough to have a beautiful morning when I took Jersey out.

Then I was also reminded of what I had to leave behind to head off to work in the morning.

And so there is where you find the dilema. I tell you, I thought with some time it would get easier to leave Ashley and Jackson in the morning but that is simply not the case.

The time had to come for us to say goodbye to all of the wonderful people at Fair Oaks hospital. This was our last couple of minutes in our room before going home. This is his final outfit from the hospital.

This is as close as you can get to Captain Gingersnap without risking bodily harm. It appears that Jackson and Snaps have agreed to co-exist.

Mom had no idea that this picture was going down (or being posted). These two guys are out for the count......

We really can't put into words how great everyone has been. Our family and friends continue to blow us away with their kindness and generosity. We are so lucky to be surrounded with such amazing people. Thank you all for everything that you do, it is something we will never forget.

Wow, how exciting. We are so blessed and thankful that everything over this last week has gone as well as it has. Friday morning at 1:59am Jackson Wayne was born with ten and ten (fingers and toes). Both Ashley and Jackson are doing wonderful. Ashley has done such an amazing job over the last week. Little Jackson weighs in at 8lbs on the nose and is a healthy 20.5 inches long. So far (as many parents probably know) we have ate, slept, gone to the bathroom, and cried. The whole hospital crew here at Fair Oaks has made the experience as easy as possible. We will be eternally gratefully to everyone on the staff here. From the front desk to surgeons to nurses; outstanding. Finally we want to thank everyone for all of their well wishes and prayers.

Due to the H1N1 flu virus; it's been just Ashley, Jackson, and Chad. NO VISITORS, NO EXCEPTIONS. And from what we hear this is becoming standard policy in all hospitals in this area at least. Now to the good stuff, pictures of the little guy.

I Letz the Dogs Out

Last night Fox 5 News did a story on entrepreneurs in the DC area, and they happened to feature the creator of my favorite website I Can Haz Cheezburger.com. The best part about the "breaking story" (there must not have been anyone shot in DC yesterday, or no one to talk to at Ben's Chili Bowl) was that they totally didn't get why this website is funny - they kept saying things like "yes folks, those mispellings are intentional [chuckle chuckle]."

But it is so funny! Especially if you like cats (who doesn't). After the story the anchor lady said to the weatherman "I can haz sunshine?" Har har har. That would never make it on Cheezburger.

These are far funnier and sometimes, when I haz depressions, or when someone else does, I will send them an LOLCat.

Well, the all important "Due Date" has now come and gone. Only problem is that nothing has changed and Jackson is still hanging in there and does not want to come out. We are on standby daily but there is nothing much to report. From all accounts and memories from friends, this is the calm before the storm. Time will tell the tale.

Manassas Battlefield

We had some time Sunday morning before the Skins game so we decided to take Jersey out to the battlefield to get a little exercise and attention before little Jackson comes around. (Not to mention the extra walking in an effort to get little Jackson to come on out!) We had a great time taking a little drive and enjoying the wonderful fall weather.

We decided that an afternoon out to Cox Farms sounded like a great idea. For those of you who don't know, Cox Farms is an amazing farm out in Centreville/Chantilly. Reference the Roloff Farm from "Big People Little World". Below is Ashley posing beside a few pumpkins.

The long overdue nursery

After a lot of planning and hard work the nursery is now ready for Jackson Wayne. We are so excited that it is all ready and together. We have found that in these most exciting times we have some of the best family and friends you could ever ask for. All of this was possible because of you.

Little Jackson will (hopefully) be a sleepy baby that spends his days (and nights) giving his mom and dad lots of peace and quiet.

No playing with water guns in the house!!

Our wonderful parents got us this amazing gliding chair that will most inevitably get lots of use!! Molly and Jamie were nice enough to run it out to us when they came over Sunday to watch some football. Thank you so much to the Campbell's and the McCarron's for doing this for us!!

Baby Shower No. 2

This past weekend the Campbell ladies (Emily and Mary) along with Sher and BT, hosted a beautiful baby shower. The flowers are all done by Sher and you'll notice the coursage I'm wearing has Chad's baby rattle in it - how cute! The food was wonderful. The theme was "baby booties" including the adorable bootie cookies that Donna Olmstead (Emily's mom) made. The weather was gorgeous and it was so fun to catch up with the Campbell family. What a great weekend.

More gifts! We are really spoiled to have such generous friends and family. I especially loved all of the hand knit blankets, which I'm sure Jackson will treasure.

This was a special gift from Mom. When we were growing up there was a "pouting chair" in the McCarron kitchen (same concept as a time out corner). Mom had the original chair painted to match our nursery bedding, and the artist did a fabulous job! Thank you Mom for such a creative and thoughtful gift. Hopefully little Jackson won't spend (too) much time in this chair!

Baby Shower

On August 13th, Carrie hosted a fantastic shower in my (and Jackson's!) honor at Mom's house. There were about 30 of my closest friends in attendance, although some couldn't make it due to distance. Anyone who knows Carrie knows that this is what she does best - plans showers! It was wonderful, and to help out, Jan (Carrie's momma) came into town all the way from Kentucky. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful friend who loves me so dearly and is willing to take on the role of "sister" since I don't have one of my own. Are you wondering if I'm getting all emotional writing this? Cut me some slack, I'm very pregnant! Also, big thanks to Mom for opening her house to entertain, again, in my honor. Closer and closer

Thursday of this past week meant.... carpet upstairs. But in order to get the carpet in, first we had to take out all of the old carpet and do a little paintin'. On Wednesday Pops came over at about 8:30 and we worked non-stop till about 7:30. It was a LONG day and there is no way that I would have ever been able to finish on my own. Big thanks to Pops!! The upstairs is being "reassembled" and when it is all done we will put some pictures up.

Well, we decided that we would get new carpet no compliment all of the other things we are doing to our house in preparation for the new addition to our family. We had the "in home estimate" (empire) people out to our house with all of their carpet samples to make sure that the most important member of our family approved of the carpet we were looking at. As you can see below, Captain Gingersnap showed us that the carpet was OK and gave us the green light to proceed.

I just got this sent to me from my pops. It was from one of the times where me, my Dad, and Brother were all able to make it to a skins game via one of pops's friends. Thankfully that sound can no longer be heard!! If you had ever seen the accordion doors we had in our hall you would know exactly why they got the nickname. Yesterday I got the time to remove them from the closet and add the new 6 panel folding doors. And a special thanks to Colin for knocking out wall after wall after wall of painting. He even made the doors below look their whitest!!

Redskins Pictures

Well with the skins playing tonight, I thought about some of the great moments at Fedex. The Jets played the Redskins in the preseason a couple years ago and Ashley was able to snag tickets from her uncle right on the visitors tunnel. Ashley and I decided we both needed to represent our colors and represent we did. After the game, Chad even caught a field players glove from D'Brickashaw Ferguson. It was a great night all around!!

We have been trying to get the house ready for little Jackson Wayne to show up and the biggest part of getting everything ready is his nursery. Our Personal interior decorator (Ashley) has picked out a color and we will be painting this weekend. She also decided that wainscoting would be a great idea. So last weekend, K-Dawg (Kevin Ackert) was kind enough to lend the majority of his weekend to helping make it all happen. We also changed out the old sliding mirror doors in exchange for traditional 6 panel doors. (Please ignore the tools everywhere). A HUGE THANK YOU to K-Dawg for his help man, that would have been impossible to accomplish by myself!!

This morning, Danny and Shelly Fitzgerald added a new member to their family. Parker was born this morning at 12:48 am. We are extremely happy to hear that both mom, dad, and son are all doing great this morning. Congratulations Fitzgerald's!!

One day when all the "guys" get together it will be quite a show. Currently Liston, Lilly, Vince, and Parker; with a Jackson slated to show up in about 2 months!!

We went to check out Bonnie Raitt and the Taj Mahal band at Wolf Trap. The McCarron's met us out there and we had a great night under the stars listening to some awesome tunes.

So somthing got into me today and I decided it was time to purchase a Blue-Ray DVD player. I ended up buying this Samsung one that can stream directly from Netflix. Well naturally I came home and signed up for Netflix. What a wonderful pairing. I have spent the last hour telling it my favorite movies and TV shows.

Well, I have finally caved and am going to ditch my efforts to run my own website. With Ashley and I expecting Jackson soon, we have decided to adopt the much easier format from blogspot!! Stay tuned for pictures of us and the new little guy when he comes around. Probably a little bit of Jersey and the Captain as well.
